BIOGRAPHY

An alumna of the Royal Academy of Music and the Royal College of Music, Charlie-Jade graduated with a Postgraduate Diploma in Musical Theatre and MSc in Performance Science, respectively. She is currently a PhD Candidate within the Centre for Performance Science at the Royal College of Music, supported by an RCM Doctoral Scholarship. As a singer, she made her professional debut in Anything Goes - A 50th Anniversary of Cole Porter with the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra at Cadogan Hall and has since maintained a wonderfully diverse career, uniquely crossing musical theatre, opera, teaching and research.

Engagements in her performance career include; Friday Night is Music Night (BBC Radio 2) Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Oklahoma! In Concert (Theatre Royal Drury Lane), the Thursford Christmas Spectacular (Thursford Collection), Love Story - The 10th Anniversary (Cadogan Hall), the European Premiere of No For An Answer (Grimeborn Opera Festival - Arcola Theatre) the Immersive Revival of Parade (Forgmore Papermill), for Bernstein At 100, Candide (Minack Theatre), the Symphonic Premiere of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s State Fair and The Soprano Behind The Screen - a solo show written by Charlie-Jade about the life of Marni Nixon that was featured by Elaine Paige on BBC Radio 2 Show, EP On Sunday and ran at The Chiswick Playhouse. Charlie-Jade frequently collaborates with composers, works as a session vocalist - having previously recorded at Abbey Road Studios and Angel Studios, and collaborates with bands and orchestras as a guest soprano.

TEACHING & RESEARCH

Charlie-Jade is the Associate Practitioner for Singing at LAMDA, is part of the Musical Theatre Department Singing Faculty at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance and works with professional performers through her private studio, The Practice by Charlie-Jade. She previously held appointments at Mountview and Laine Theatre Arts, and is an external assessor for Arts Educational Schools. She adopts an evidence-based and person-centred approach to her teaching, encouraging actors, singers and actor-musicians to harness their unique sound whilst ensuring that no matter the genre, they are singing healthily and efficiently, combining emotional and musical instinct with a well-rounded technique. Her Doctoral Research in the field of performers’ health and performing arts medicine led to Charlie-Jade pursuing specialist training in vocal health. Alongside courses in Fundamental Anatomy, Endoscopic Interpretation, and MSc Performance Science research around the Psychology of Voice Disorders, Charlie-Jade regularly collaborates with specialist clinicians and observes in a leading NHS Voice Clinic. In addition to her PG Dip and MSc, she was awarded the title Licentiate of the Royal Academy of Music (Singing Teaching), and is a member of the British Voice Association and Healthy Conservatoires Network.

Incredibly passionate about music and well-being, Charlie-Jade has facilitated sessions and performed for outreach projects with organisations such as Opera Holland Park, Age UK, Key Club at the Lyric Hammersmith and with the Wigmore Hall. She has sung and facilitated sessions working with adults on the autism spectrum, those living with dementia and their carers, primary school children and the elderly.
